SUTHERLAND, Julie Frances

SUTHERLAND, Julie Frances:
On 7 October 2026, the Sutherland Clan lost Julie Frances Sutherland. Julie passed away peacefully, knowing she was deeply loved by family and friends.

Julie will be sorely missed by her siblings and in-laws, Denise and Paul, Craig and Maureen, and Ann Marie; nieces and nephews Kristy, Karlee, Sarah and Michael; and great-nieces and great-nephews Tyler, Mackenzie, Meelah, Rubee and Ivy. Julie shared an especially close bond with her sister Ann Marie.

Julie also leaves behind dear friends who became family, including Ivan, her good friend and confidant to whom she was ‘work mum’, and Greer and Finley, who will always remember her as their beloved “Big Red”; the wider Bridgestone Clan; and her best friend Angela, along with Alex and Izzy. Julie loved Greer, Finley and Izzy as if they were her own nieces and nephews.

Julie was known for her dry wit, honesty and practical nature, but beneath her no-nonsense exterior she showed her love through friendship, kindness, sound advice (and sometimes a hard word), as well as thoughtful handmade gifts. Julie loved casinos, crafts, cats and time spent with family and friends.

Julie is now reunited with her parents, Judy and Ian, and her adored cats, Sheba, Titan and L.B.

Her family and friends would like to thank all who supported Julie and who continue to support us. Special thanks from the bottom of our hearts to the staff of Christchurch Hospital ICU for the exceptional care, compassion and dignity shown to Julie and her loved ones. We were absolutely blown away.

If Julie could leave one last piece of advice for us, it would be this: FOCUS.

A memorial to celebrate Julie’s life will be held at a later date. Details to follow.
